In April this year, on a  trip to South Africa, Rtn Liam Bennett visited Norah's Edu-care for children.  A pre-school Centre which was started by an amazing woman called Norah Moriri some 6 years ago. Norah watched the little children who were left to walk the streets in search of food in the Barcelona township where she resides, trying to look after each other whilst their parents went in search of work each day.

Some of these children would go for days at a time with little or no food. Norah took them into her home and fed and cared for them each day, but the numbers grew rapidly and there was simply not enough room for them all. After persuading her friend Emma Potgieter to let her use three small rooms that Emma used to lease out the project has slowly grown into a Centre which feeds and educates 200 plus children.

There are many children whose parents have HIV or AIDS and others that live with their grannies who are pensioners and yet others that are orphans.

On Liam's visit he took donations from Rotary and friends which enabled the Centre to purchase tables and chairs so that the children can carry out their school work properly.

 Since then we have transferred £2950.00 to the Rotary Club of Benoni and they are helping  the Centre to purchase the items they need.. Liam visited again in October to see what the money has done, they now have a  new cooking range, a microwave oven, pots & pans and Kitchen utensils, bedding and blankets, toys, books & crayons and much much more. Thanks to the kindness of people in our community we have made a major impact on the lives of these children.
